How can I de-activate a broken cell phone and re-activate a functional one from home?

Okay so I dropped my cell phone how to buy prescription drugs without a prescription in a lake..It does not work properly. I have an old cell phone i can use for now that works fine, it is just not activated. How can I put MY cell phone number onto the working phone without having to go to Verizon Stores? Please help.
i have t-mobile but if you call verizon customer care they could probably help you
Does it have a sim card that is removable?
just take the sim card out and put it in the other phone you may have to get it unlocked if it was used on a different network, costs about $5
